This little slice of France is a welcome spot for those wishing to take a break from their shopping adventures on Chapel Street.
is a welcome retreat for those Mebournites who have recently returned home after living abroad in Europe. Well, it was for me anyway. You cannot imagine my excitement when I spied the colourful macarons through the large plate glass window as I was walking down Toorak Road in South Yarra. Apparently there is a home-grown macaron movement happening in Australian cafes as we speak, so I tried not to get my hopes up that these may actually resemble one of the melt-in-your-mouth delicacies of Paris' Ladurée. When I did venture inside and took a spot at a bench by the window I nearly fell off my chair when I came across the famous Toulousse dish Cassoulet on the menu. Suddenly, someone from behind asks in a thick French accent whether I would like to see a menu. Why yes, yes I would!
